Event Review: ONETASTE FESTIVAL 2011

Date: Sunday, 6th November, 2011

Location: The Bedford, SW12

Founder and producer of OneTaste (which acclaimed the outstanding Jamie Woon), Dannii Evans started the collective in 2004.  Over 300 events later she holds one of the most exceptional platforms for talented musicians & poets in the UK.

Natasha Moskovici stated ‘A poet is a seeker.’ Therefore, I believe all OneTaste revellers are poets!  We are curious and search for the new, the innovators, the hippies and dreamers, our purpose is to discover and here our hearts are filled with that desire!  Not only challenging traditional methods on how to throw a party, OneTaste fully absorbs revellers beyond the realms of reality.

The 11 hour adventure started with a deep breath before jumping into the magical ‘maze of music, poetry, workshops, dancing, cabaret, magic, painting, tasty food, DJs, theatre, comedy, paradeu, secret experiences and more!’

OneTaste festival resides in The Bedford, a stunning, unique venue with beautiful décor and it’s own Globe Theatre!

Sunday’s music consisted of a spell bounding variety including the Queen of the UK Soul scene – Alice Russell (who’s voice makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up).  Holly Walker’s sweet, mesmerising melodies to the swinging sounds of Franky and The Jacks.  LV feat Joshua Idehen’s funky beat of the ‘Northern Line’ to the dreamy session with Jono McCleery!

The poetry was captivating and had audiences in fits of laughter.  Eccentric compère Gideon Com, AF Harold, Dougie Hastings and Natasha Moskovici proved most inspiring!  Comedy & laughter was all around, from face painting to the dress up OneTaste photo booth.

Feeding grounds consisted of ‘the best chips in the UK’ at £1, Vegan cakes and reasonable priced drinks to wash it all down.

The discovery: ‘A world of fantasy in an extraordinary venue, with the tendency to stumble into the unknown.   This beautiful journey, only exist in that moment, a memory that feels more like a fairy tale than a dream!’

This event was ONE of the most random and exhilarating experiences of my life, in which I would personally like to thank the entire OneTaste team for creating.  Their 7th birthday celebration will be held on Sunday 11th December with a secret line up of OneTaste friends and family, which I am psyched about.

‘Dance, laugh, cry, make friends, eat, love, drink, party and be MERRY!’
